Mike Pede (’89)

Mike Pede, AVP for Alumni Relations at UH, enters his 9th year in service to UHAA. A 1989 graduate of UH’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, Mike and his wife, fellow UH graduate Melanie Stinson Pede (’91), are UHAA Life Members and the proud parents of daughters Kelsey (’17) and Krista (Class of ‘21) . Mike has served or currently serves on advisory boards for Bank of America and Liberty Mutual alumni affinity programs, and Council of Alumni Association Executives, the TD Club of Houston. He also has served CASE as Chair of the 2017 CASE IV Conference and as Programming Chair for the 2014 Conference in Houston. Also a member of the global CASE Commission on Alumni Relations and also serves on committees at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Texas Bowl. He is also the current Chair of the American Athletic Conference Alumni Council and a past board member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators. In whatever time is left, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, golf and travel.
During college, he served as Shasta, the university’s mascot for two years, beginning in 1987, and he hasn’t stopped cheerleading for UH since. Following graduation Mike served in several capacities at UH Athletics from 1989-1993, before serving 13 years as Assistant and Associate AD for Rice University. Beginning in 2006, Mike was in private business for three years and also extended his resume as VP of North American Music for LiveNation in Houston. Now Associate VP for Alumni Relations at UH, Mike has been leading UH alumni relations programs since rejoining his alma mater in 2010 with UHAA.
Chuck Arnold (’94)

Chuck Arnold is Director for Alumni Relations. In this role, he will oversee the day-to-day internal operations, including oversight of corporate affinity and revenue, business operations, Life Memberships, UHAAF Board operations and other duties related to the success of the Alumni Relations program at UH.
He brings over 25 years of experience in advertising and sports marketing to the Alumni Association. As Director of Corporate Sponsorships for both Houston Astros Baseball and Houston Aeros Hockey teams, his primary responsibility was the development and maintenance of sports sponsorships. His media experience comes from his time at Houston Business Journal, Houston Chronicle, KPRC- Channel 2, SportsRadio 610 and Liberman- Spanish Language Broadcasting.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Houston and is completing a Masters in Sports Management from Texas A&M University. Chuck has previously served on Board of Directors positions for Graphic Arts Credit Union, SIRE- Houston’s Therapeutic Horsemanship and American Advertising Federation~ Houston Chapter. He has been an active member with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo since 1999 and currently serves as Vice Chairman for Gatekeepers Committee. He grew up in Houston and enjoys playing golf with his teenage son, Colby and traveling with his wife, Lisa. He is a proud UHAA Life Member. Go Coogs!
Nancy Vecera Clark (’76) has over forty years of professional experience in Fund Raising, Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising. Ms. Clark has held the positions of Director of Donor Relations and Director of Development for the University of Houston and was an Adjunct English Lecturer at the University of Houston-Downtown for ten years.
Prior to these positions, she served as Vice President of Stricklin & Company, a PR/Advertising firm named third largest PR company in the 1988 Houston Business Journal Book of Lists. Before Stricklin & Company, Nancy was the Development Coordinator for Hermann Hospital and Hermann Hospital Estate.
Ms. Clark belongs to several industry, trade and professional organizations and has been named in WHO’S WHO OF AMERICAN WOMEN. She has served on several boards including the Advisory Board of the Texas A&M University Institute for Biosciences and Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Houston and completed para-legal studies at Houston Community College. Nancy V. Clark (’76) is a proud Life Member.
Joe joined the University of Houston in October of 2015 after working in the Special Events and Tours department with the Houston Astros. Previously, he worked in the Athletic Department at St. Mary’s High School in Buffalo, NY for six years; including over two years as the Athletic Director. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Medaille College in 2009 (Buffalo) and a Master’s Degree from Canisius College (Buffalo) in 2010. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, watching sports and spending time with his twin nieces; Amelia and Gianna.
As a Project Manager for Alumni Relations, Kendra oversees UHAA’s signature events, including the Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala, and the Cougar 100 Luncheon. She also manages the Cougars on Tour Travel Program and Coogs on the Road away game and post-season alumni travel. Her duties also include the UHAA Mobile App, Alumni Card, Cougar Advantage discount program, and database management and tracking.
Kendra joined the University of Houston in February 2014. Originally from the Houston area, she received her degree in Sports Management from the University of Texas. Prior to UH, Kendra spent four years as an Operations Manager for Gold’s Gym International in Austin. She also worked for the Division of Recreational Sports while in school.
Karen began her education at the University of Houston in 1985 and shortly afterwards was employed with KUHF-FM Radio where she worked part-time in the Business Office as an Administrative Assistant. In 1989, Karen was offered a full-time job at KUHF as Member Services Director. She worked tirelessly in the position as the membership grew from 2,000 to over 20,000 within a couple of years of changing the music format from Jazz to Classical. While in this position and with her knowledge of the station’s membership software, Karen was often called upon to help and assist other non-profit stations in the Texas area in their membership department. Karen served in the position as Member Services Director until 2005 before returning to the Business Office as a Financial Coordinator at Houston Public Media. Although her passion is in Business Operations, she credits working in development and fundraising an essential part of her career growth.
Karen is very active in her church and especially loves working with the youth. Karen is the proud parent of two children. Her daughter chose law enforcement as her career path. She completed the police academy at UHD and now serves as a Harris County Sheriff Deputy. Her son, whom is a basketball fanatic, received his Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Accounting degree from UHD. He now works as an Accountant with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts office specializing in Tax Auditing.
Vanessa Pham joined UHAAF in 2014 and has been with the University of Houston for over 15 years. Prior to joining UHAAF, she was an accountant for UH-General Accounting and NSM Department. In her most recent role, she was a Financial Analyst and Asst. Business-Finance Administrator for KUHT-TV/KUHF-FM Department for over 12 years. Vanessa graduated from the University of Houston with a BBA in Accounting. She is married and has a daughter and son who (she hopes) will plan to attend UH in near future.
Anneka Reed Roberson joined the UHAA team in February 2018. Anneka is a Louisiana native and a proud alumna of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA earning a BA in Journalism.
Anneka has been with the University of Houston for over 17 years. She served as a Sales Manager for the Conrad N. Hilton College for over 12 years. She went on to have a short stay in the CLASS Dean’s Office, before joining the University Advancement team where she currently serves as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the AVP of Alumni Relations.
She is married and has one son (CJ) who is a proud alumnus of the University of Houston Charter School.
Anneka enjoys traveling, sports and spending time with her friends and family.
Ryan joined the University of Houston as a project manager in March of 2018. As the Project Manager for Life Membership Ryan oversees all things associated with Life Membership. His role includes increasing awareness and support for the Life Membership program through marketing and promotional efforts. In addition, Ryan is responsible for maintaining active stewardship with existing Life Members, ensuring they are engaged alumni of the University.
Before moving to Houston he worked for a large hospital system in Atlanta as a project manager in their Information Systems department. Previously, he worked in the communications division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where he honed his marketing and communication skills. In addition, he has worked on a variety of projects from public health campaigns to working with electronic health records throughout his career. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies (2007) and Master’s Degree of Public Health from the University of Missouri (2009). Ryan loves spending time with his family, wife Christie and 2 daughters Fiona and Lydia.
Jarred joined the University of Houston in March of 2018, coming to us from an entrepreneurial and athletics background after starting his own business in the health and fitness industry, and competing as a student athlete throughout his college career. He was born and raised in the Houston area suburb of Katy, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Texas State University in 2014. In his free time, he enjoys staying active in the gym, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
Lindsey joined the UHAA staff as a Program Manager in 2017. Having lived all over the United States, Lindsey has made Houston her home for 5 years. She graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a degree in Environmental Management.
