Mike Pede (’89)

Mike Pede, AVP for Alumni Relations at UH, enters his 10th year in service to UHAA. A 1989 graduate of UH’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, Mike and his wife, fellow UH graduate Melanie Stinson Pede (’91), are UHAA Life Members and the proud parents of daughters Kelsey (’17) and Krista (Class of ‘21) . Mike has served or currently serves on advisory boards for Bank of America and Liberty Mutual alumni affinity programs, and Council of Alumni Association Executives. He also has served CASE as Chair of the 2017 CASE IV Conference and as Programming Chair for the 2014 Conference in Houston. Also a member of the global CASE Commission on Alumni Relations.
Mike also serves on committees at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Greater Houston Basketball Committee and the Texas Bowl. He is in his 3rd term as Chair of the American Athletic Conference Alumni Council and is a past board member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators. Following graduation Mike served in several capacities at UH Athletics from 1989-1993, before serving 13 years as Assistant and Associate AD for Rice University. Beginning in 2006, Mike was in private business for three years and also extended his resume as VP of North American Music for LiveNation in Houston. Now Associate VP for Alumni Relations at UH, Mike has been leading UH alumni relations programs since rejoining his alma mater in 2010 with UHAA. In whatever time is left, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, golf and travel.
Chuck Arnold (’94)

Chuck Arnold is Director for Alumni Relations. In this role, he will oversee the day-to-day internal operations, including oversight of corporate affinity and revenue, business operations, Life Memberships, UHAAF Board operations and other duties related to the success of the Alumni Relations program at UH.
He brings over 25 years of experience in advertising and sports marketing to the Alumni Association. As Director of Corporate Sponsorships for both Houston Astros Baseball and Houston Aeros Hockey teams, his primary responsibility was the development and maintenance of sports sponsorships. His media experience comes from his time at Houston Business Journal, Houston Chronicle, KPRC- Channel 2, SportsRadio 610 and Liberman- Spanish Language Broadcasting.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Houston and a Masters in Sports Management from Texas A&M University. Chuck has previously served on Board of Directors positions for Graphic Arts Credit Union, SIRE- Houston’s Therapeutic Horsemanship and American Advertising Federation~ Houston Chapter. He has been an active member with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo since 1999 and currently serves as Vice Chairman for Gatekeepers Committee and on the Calf Scramble Committee. He grew up in Houston and enjoys playing golf with his teenage son, Colby and traveling with his wife, Lisa. He is a proud UHAA Life Member. Go Coogs!
Nancy Vecera Clark (’76) has over forty years of professional experience in Fund Raising, Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising. Ms. Clark has held the positions of Director of Donor Relations and Director of Development for the University of Houston and was an Adjunct English Lecturer at the University of Houston-Downtown for ten years.
Prior to these positions, she served as Vice President of Stricklin & Company, a PR/Advertising firm named third largest PR company in the 1988 Houston Business Journal Book of Lists. Before Stricklin & Company, Nancy was the Development Coordinator for Hermann Hospital and Hermann Hospital Estate.
Ms. Clark belongs to several industry, trade and professional organizations and has been named in WHO’S WHO OF AMERICAN WOMEN. She has served on several boards including the Advisory Board of the Texas A&M University Institute for Biosciences and Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Houston and completed para-legal studies at Houston Community College. Nancy V. Clark (’76) is a proud Life Member.
Joe joined the University of Houston in October of 2015 after working in the Special Events and Tours department with the Houston Astros. Previously, he worked in the Athletic Department at St. Mary’s High School in Buffalo, NY for six years; including over two years as the Athletic Director. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Medaille College in 2009 (Buffalo) and a Master’s Degree from Canisius College (Buffalo) in 2010. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, watching sports and spending time with his twin nieces; Amelia and Gianna.
As a Program Director for Alumni Relations, Kendra oversees UHAA’s signature events, including the Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala, and the Cougar 100 Luncheon. She also manages the Cougars on Tour Travel Program and Coogs on the Road away game and post-season alumni travel. Her duties also include the UHAA Mobile App, Alumni Card, Cougar Advantage discount program, and database management and tracking.
Kendra joined the University of Houston in February 2014. Originally from the Houston area, she received her degree in Sports Management from the University of Texas. Prior to UH, Kendra spent four years as an Operations Manager for Gold’s Gym International in Austin. She also worked for the Division of Recreational Sports while in school.
Anneka Reed Roberson joined the UHAA team in February 2018. Anneka is a Louisiana native and a proud alumna of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA earning a BA in Journalism.
Anneka has been with the University of Houston for over 17 years. She served as a Sales Manager for the Conrad N. Hilton College for over 12 years. She went on to have a short stay in the CLASS Dean’s Office, before joining the University Advancement team where she currently serves as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the AVP of Alumni Relations.
She is married and has one son (CJ) who is a proud alumnus of the University of Houston Charter School.
Anneka enjoys traveling, sports and spending time with her friends and family.
Kirstyn joined the University of Houston as a project manager in March of 2019. As the Project Manager for Life Membership, Kirstyn oversees all things associated with Life Members. Her role includes increasing awareness and support for the program through marketing and promotional efforts as well as maintaining active stewardship with existing Life Members, ensuring they are engaged alumni of the University.
Kirstyn is a graduate of the University of Houston and is a proud Life Member. She previously worked for a marketing and advertising agency downtown. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Houston’s murals, eating Chick-fil-A, watching baseball or football and playing with her chocolate lab, Charlie!
Lindsey joined the UHAA staff as a Program Manager in 2017. Having lived all over the United States, Lindsey has made Houston her home for 5 years. She graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a degree in Environmental Management.
Elaine joined the University of Houston in May of 2019 after working at Louisiana State University (LSU). She will oversee the reservations of the Alumni Center, our student-based programming, and assist on our signature events. At LSU, Elaine worked in the offices of First Year Experience, Recruitment Events, and Enrollment Management for five years. She received her Master’s in Higher Education Administration in 2017 and Bachelor’s in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations in 2014, both from LSU. In her free time, she enjoys baking, crafting, and exploring her new home of Houston.
Carolyn Hartmann joined the UHAA team in March 2020. Carolyn is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate communications to the alumni audience via print and digital platforms. She also serves as editor of the Alumline magazine and maintains oversight of the houstonalumni.com website. Carolyn joined the University of Houston in 2015 when she accepted the role of Communications Manager in Annual Giving. She went on to serve as Communications Director of Donor Communications within the University Advancement Division.
Carolyn brings a wealth of diverse experience to Alumni Relations. Originally from Waco, Texas, she attended Baylor University where she obtained a BA in Communications and a MA in Communications and Training and Development. From Baylor, Carolyn accepted a position as Management Intern at the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston. She worked for fourteen years at the Federal Reserve Bank, gaining a variety of skills in management, communications and strategic planning.
After the Federal Reserve Bank, Carolyn joined Brookwoods Group where she served as the communications lead for ConocoPhillips’s United Way Campaign. From there, Carolyn went on to work for MWH Public Relations where she oversaw the agency’s Customer Retention Program.
Aside from her role at UHAA, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters as well as singing in her church choir.
In March of 2020, Justin joined the Alumni Relations team serving as a graphic designer. He also develops HoustonAlumni.com via WordPress and creates emails for alumni communications. Before this, he worked at the C. T. Bauer College of Business’s Office of Communications as a graphic designer for nearly three years. Justin’s first full-time job as a graphic designer was for the University of South Carolina’s Creative Services, where he gained a variety of experiences with working in higher education.
Justin graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2015 and holds a BFA in Graphic Design. He grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and moved to Houston in 2017. He lives with his wife — who also works at the University of Houston — and their cat, Gigi. When not working, Justin enjoys cooking, playing video games, and reading.
