Student Choice Awards
Outstanding Faculty and Staff

The Student Alumni Connection, along with The University of Houston Alumni Association presents the Student Choice Awards in honor of the University of Houston’s most outstanding Faculty and Staff. All current UH students are eligible to nominate their favorite professor and/or staff member for this award. There will be three (3) Faculty Awards and two (2) Staff Awards given out; and they will be recognized at the Life Member Circle of Excellence Reception.

 Purpose

The purpose of the Outstanding Faculty Award is to give recognition to faculty for their excellence in teaching and excels in building a sense of community among students. The award highlights their accomplishments at the university.
The purpose of the Outstanding Staff Award is to recognize a staff member that has made superb contributions to the University and the daily support they provide to students, alumni and visitors. The award emphasizes the impact staff members have on the quality of the student experience.

Requirements

Faculty
* Nominees who are tenured or tenure-track faculty members must have been full-time at UH for at least three years.
* Nominees who are non-tenured or non-tenure track faculty members must have been at UH for at least five years.
* Nominees should have a consistent pattern of teaching excellence and commitment to strengthening the bond between students and the University.
* Must not have won the award in the previous three years.

Staff
* Must be a full-time staff member who has at least three years of full-time service.
* Must be involved with UH activities.
* Qualities of the Nominee: Dependability, cooperative spirit, loyalty to the University, and effectiveness in performing assigned duties.
* Must not have won the award in the previous three years.

The awards will be voted on and selected by the Student Alumni Connection Awards Committee

UHAA staff, UHAA Board, UHAA Alumni Council members and their immediate relatives are not eligible for the award.
