RECOGNITION PROGRAMS:
Life Member Circle of Excellence
The Circle of Excellence honors our Life Members who choose to give an additional annual year-end gift to UHAA, above and beyond the Life Membership commitment.

Alumni Awards Gala
The University of Houston Alumni Awards Gala is a special evening recognizing individuals who have exhibited exemplary service not only to this university, but also to this community.

  • The Distinguished Alumni Awards are given to individuals whose professional accomplishments have brought credit to the university.
  • The Distinguished Service Awards are given to Life Members of UHAA who have distinguished themselves through a history of significant volunteer service to further the mission of UHAA and advance the university.
  • The UHAA Chair’s Award recognizes exemplary service and generous contributions of time, talent, and resources to UH by non-alumni.
  • The Outstanding Volunteer Award recognizes alumni who embody the spirit of volunteerism to advance the mission of UHAA.
ALUMNI PROGRAMS:
Career Fair
The Alumni Career Mixer’s primary focus is to provide alumni and new graduates with an opportunity to explore different career fields and disciplines. This event is geared towards the alumnus who is seeking a career change, looking for a new job, or securing their very first job opportunity.

Cougar Executive Program
The CEO program is the premier executive club of UHAA, designed for graduates of the University of Houston who have ascended to executive-level positions or own their own businesses. The program seeks to bring together these alumni to strengthen and expand the profile of the university both regionally and nationally.

Leadership Luncheons
An extension of the CEO program, Leadership Luncheons are held quarterly and serve as a networking event for alumni and students. The luncheons feature a keynote speech from a UH graduate at the CEO level, allowing current students to hear from alumni in industry-leading roles.

Class Reunions
One of our newest programs is our Reunion Homecoming Tailgates. We celebrate and honor the 10th and 25th anniversaries of alumni from those class years. This a chance to see old friends and make new ones, to reminisce about the past and look forward to the new heights UH is reaching for. Please consider joining us each year as we honor our history and our graduates!

ATHLETIC EVENTS:
Home Game Tailgate
Each home football game UHAA hosts a tailgate party at the President’s Pavilion in Tailgate Village beginning 2 ½ hours before kickoff. All UHAA members enter for free to eat, drink, and socialize with fellow Cougars.

Away Game Pre-Game Parties
Athletic events are often times the pulse for many alumni and friends of the University! UHAA hosts away pre-game activities to support the UH Department of Collegiate Athletics and to provide alumni (both Houstonians and regional area alums) with an occasion to gather, connect and cheer on the Cougars!

Championship and Bowl Game Parties
Through post-season opportunities, the UH Alumni Association provides support for the Cougar Football team for achieving a successful year. One of the ways that the alumni association does this is through sponsoring pre-game activities for its alumni. These are designed to show support and pride for the team’s accomplishments made throughout the year!

Homecoming Activities
UHAA provides a variety of homecoming activities for alumni in order to celebrate and in many cases reconnect alumni to the present-day UH. Homecoming activities are also designed to create a sense of tradition, pride and connection among the greater UH community (alumni, faculty, staff, and students).

Tailgate Spirit Challenge
The Tailgate Spirit Challenge, held every Homecoming, pits the UH Alumni Association's different constituent groups in a battle of BBQ and Cougar pride. This competition can get fierce, as a group of "celebrity" judges have the enviable job of walking around tent to tent, trying all the delicious food, and deciding which alumni group has the most spirit! This and all Homecoming festivities are designed to create a sense of tradition, pride, and connection among the greater UH family.

STUDENT PROGRAMS:
Scholarships
Each year UHAA and our constituents award over $200,000 in student scholarships. Scholarships are available for incoming, continuing, transfer, and graduate students. Applications can be found each December on the UHAA website and deadlines are usually in March.

Faculty/Staff Awards
UHAA supports the Faculty and Staff of the University of Houston by recognizing a few select nominees with awards for the exceptional impact they have on the University and its’ students. These award nominees are submitted and voted on by the student body as part of the Student Choice Awards program put on by our Student Alumni Connection.

Student Alumni Connection
Student Alumni Connection (SAC) bridges the gap between students and alumni while students are still preparing to become future alumni. SAC operates by providing opportunities for networking, leadership, volunteering and social activities.

Ring Ceremony
The ring ceremony is a fast growing tradition that takes place each semester at UH as more and more students take part in receiving an official UH Class Ring. Students who participate in the ring ceremony are presented their class ring in an intimate and formal celebration which family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Senior Send Off
Each Spring, UHAA hosts a Senior Send-Off party for all UH students scheduled to graduate in May, August or December of that year. The festivities are held at Lynn Eusan Park and include music, games, free food and lots of give-aways. This is one of our post popular student events and is continuing to grow year after year.

Dinner for Ten
Dinner for 10 Cougars is a unique event organized by SAC that brings students and alumni together. Each dinner connects ten students with a few alumni who are graduates of their college, currently employed in their field of study or share in any other special interest they may have. Students have the opportunity to network and learn from these alumni, and all participants get a chance to share their UH experiences.

Freshman Orientation
Each summer, incoming freshmen at UH are required to attend freshman orientation to get them better acquainted with the university. UHAA participates in freshman orientations by being present at the closing pep rally and having an SAC informational table at the organizations fair.

Graduation
One of the biggest moments in a student’s life is when they finally graduate from college. UHAA looks to support this momentous occasion by being present during graduation and providing incentives for graduates to join UHAA and start their journey as alumni on the right path.

 OTHER PROGRAMS & EVENTS:
Celebrity Golf Tournament
Each year fellow Cougars continue the tradition of hitting the links with some of our most notable celebrity graduates and supporters. This event promises to be a fun-filled day of golf with players of all levels and more importantly a day to socialize with old friends and make new one. We also provide lunch, dinner, raffles prizes, and exciting auction items for you to bid on!

UHAA Texas Hold’Em Showdown
In 2011 we hosted our first Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament to benefit the Touchdown Club of Houston's "Play it Smart" program and UHAA scholarships and alumni programs. This tournament proved to be wildly popular with groups of all ages. The winner took home the “championship bracelet” but everyone enjoyed the action as the night went on. There were celebrity players, door prizes, exciting auction items and much more! We hope you will join us for next year’s tournament.

Alumni Quarterly
UH Alumni Quarterly is our membership magazine that is mailed to all University of Houston Alumni Association members and distributed amount university faculty and staff four times a year. This magazine features stories about interesting, outstanding and accomplished UH graduates as well as updates on recent alumni association and university initiatives.

Travel Program
Our Travel program trips are an extension of the mission of our alumni association and our University. The travel program provides alumni with an amazing opportunity to connect with fellow Cougars while also promoting life-long learning. Our travel partners, AHI, ensure that each of our trips include an educational component and bring in the best of local experts to inform and to entertain!
