April showers bring May flowers, right? Isn’t that what you’ve always heard? Well, I hope there aren’t too many April showers, because with all the events happening, we can’t afford to lose any good spring time to a wet day!

We are close to the end of the semester, and that means two things: soon, we’ll add approximately 6,000 new alumni to our family when we host the many commencement exercises in May. Secondly, it means we are headed toward one of our busiest (the other being October) months of the year. We not only are getting ready for the big night, the 64th UHAA Alumni Awards Gala on April 28, but we have signature events hosted by the Hilton College Alumni Association, LGBTQ Alumni Association, Engineering Alumni Association, and many other events, all within the weeks ahead. The Cougar Art Challenge returns to the Gala this year, and we will auction off artwork created by UH students and alumni. You don’t want to miss that!

I’m also happy to announce that we are celebrating our graduating seniors in style with the Spring Ring Ceremony and Senior 27 celebration, which honors the best and brightest 27 students from this year’s graduating class. For Life Members, be sure to check out the Life Member weekend we have planned at the Golden Nugget in May.

It may seem like each month I just list all the events that are happening, and I’m not dropping any wisdom or nomenclature on you; but who has time for all that when we have so many great events that you can be a part of? Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers that take time to support UHAA. It’s because of them, and you, that this all works.

So, let’s shower some love on the events in April and watch our new graduates bloom in May! This is our time, it’s our place, and it’s our home – the University of Houston! Go Coogs!

True we’ll ever be,
