GUARDING OF THE RINGS

You are cordially invited to come experience the “Guarding of the Rings” by Shasta on Friday, December 8, at The Houston Zoo. A box that will hold your ring will be inside the habitat from 9:00am – 3:30pm. The Zoo will be open to the public from 9 A.M. – 4 P.M. A keeper chat about the cougars will occur at 11:30 am on December 8th, too! Tickets for December will be available on October 16th for non-members. Tickets MUST be reserved online before visiting the Zoo, as tickets will not be sold at the gate. Current UH students receive FREE admission by reserving tickets online and presenting their UH ID upon entry, along with your reservation ticket. To apply the student discount, scroll down to the section “Discount Admission” and select the “College Student” option. Make sure to reserve yours early! Members are no longer required to make a reservation to visit the Zoo. Upon arrival at the Zoo, you will enter through our Member Entrance and present your digital membership card.

RING CEREMONY

The Ring Ceremony will be held at the Fertitta Center on Sunday, December 10th from 10:00  A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Doors will open at 9 am. We hope you and your family will be able to join us! If you have not already registered, please click here to do so.

A few items to note for the Ring Ceremony:

  • Cash Parking ($10.00) will be available in Stadium Parking Garage across the street from Fertitta Center. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.
    • If you have a valid UH parking permit, you will be allowed to park at no charge.
    • Please use the link to receive $2 off your parking.
  • Doors will open at noon for check-in. Only students receiving a ring need to check in. Please enter Fertitta Center from the Holman Street entrance, as shown on the map below.
  • Only those receiving rings will need to check in at the tables inside Fertitta Center. Your guests may proceed to their seats. Those receiving rings will be seated in a designated section, and our staff will direct you accordingly.
  • During the ceremony, ring recipients will walk across the stage.  If any ring recipients require assistance to walk onto and across the stage, please let us know.
  • The dress for this event is business casual.
  • A clear bag policy is in effect for Fertitta Center. Please share with your guests! More information is below.

STUDENT SPEAKER

We are also currently accepting applications for students that would like to be considered to be the student speaker at the Ring Ceremony. If you would like to be considered to be a student speaker, please fill out this form by November 14th to be considered.

RING PICK-UP

If you are not able to attend the Ring Ceremony, you can pick up your class ring in the UH Alumni Association office on Monday December 11th – Wednesday December 13th from 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. CST.  We are located in the Athletics-Alumni Center Building at 3204 Cullen Blvd. Suite 201 Houston TX, 77204, 2nd floor, first door on the left side of the hall. Please bring a valid photo ID.

Parking Information

Parking will be available in the stadium garage on Holman Street. For those without a permit, please go to https://www.parkjockey.com/en-us/universityofhouston, select the date of the event (TBD/23) under Ring Ceremony for $2 off your parking. Purchase the parking that will create a QR code to be will scanned by a parking attendance upon arrival.

Students and guests must enter through the Holman Street side of the stadium (facing the stadium garage). You’ll see our giant ring inflatable in front of the doors, and we will have lots of signage along the way, so you can’t miss it!
