Hello Cougars!

The second month of the year might be called February, but for us, it may as well be called October, because it’s just as bustling as football season! I always try to point out few items this month to focus on, but with over 25 events in 28 days, I won’t bother to try that! Just check out www.houstonalumni.com, or download our app, and you’ll see what I am talking about. Between our men’s and women’s basketball teams, the start of baseball season, golf tournaments, gala season and the Rodeo Houston, there may not be a day off! But we like it that way.

This month started off with our first ever Cougar 100 Networking event, which was designed to further connect Cougar businesses with each other. Coming up on Feb. 11, is a reception for UH Day at the Capital in Austin. We ask that you join us, as I have a sense that this year is going to be a strong finish to the decade-long push, that may have been the most impactful in the history of our university.

Within a decade, the structures on campus have changed; new stadiums, residence halls, cafeterias, roadways and programs that have leapt forward and gained national recognition: Tier One designation.

None of that happens without you and our volunteers. We, as alumni, are the face of UH. We are both the past and the future. We provide the “House” the “Power,” and we have big things planned. The bandwagon still has plenty of room, so if you aren’t on it yet, join a club, become a Life Member, buy a ticket to an event or mentor a student. We are nearly 300,000 alumni strong, our time is now!

Go Coogs!

True We’ll Ever Be!
