How did it get so late so soon?

Hello Cougars!

Dr. Seuss once said, “How did it get so late so soon?” That’s how I feel about this academic year – it has flown by so fast, and now we are in the latter stages of spring, and summer is just a few weeks away (I know, you are saying “Mike, it’s 90 degrees outside, it’s summer!”).

There are still a few things to get excited about as we roll up our sleeves, grab our surfboards, and head toward the water! We still have some hard-working volunteers getting ready for the Engineering Alumni Awards Gala (June 7), or the Major Applewhite’s Golf Tournament (June 18), the Houston Pride Parade featuring the LGBTQ Alumni Association on our float (June 23), and our big event with the wonderful Jim Parsons (’96) in NYC on Broadway in “Boys in the Band” on July 17th. To keep up with all of that, download the new UHAA App!

With football season right around the corner, travel packages are available for the game in Annapolis in October. Stay tuned, more trips will be added throughout the summer.

Congratulations, and welcome to the 5,000+ new members to Cougar alumni family, who graduated in May. Welcome to the family!

So I ask you, how DID it get so late so soon? It seems like just yesterday we were showing how much Houstonians care about Houstonians, as we recovered from Harvey, and just a few weeks ago, when our community was tested yet again, we stepped up. Cougars and the Houston community have amazing resilience. The warmth that we find in each other is a great feeling to have.

Enjoy the warmth of June, whether from your Cougar friends, your family, or that big ball of fire in the sky we call the sun (don’t forget the sunscreen).

Have a great start to summer and Go Coogs!

True we’ll ever be,

Mike
