Greetings Cougars,

Associate Vice President,
Alumni Relations

Spring is coming, I promise.  Even though winter has made a last run at us in February, trust me, as I look at the calendar, it’s March for sure, and it’s even more exciting to be as busy as we are with engaging in-person events coming your way in the next 60 days.

I want to take this moment to thank the thousands, over 20,000 to be exact, of you that participated in our Oral History project last fall.  What incredible stories that you shared about your time at UH, and how special our alma mater is to all of us. I know we will be using the over 15,000 stories we collected in future communications, so be on the lookout. Your stories were so inspiring and show the incredible and historic background of the University. We had stories from alumni 60 years ago and from those just last May. It’s amazing how that Cougar pride runs through us all.

So, now’s time to make your own history, tell your unique story and leave your lasting mark on UH. Join us for UH Giving Day on March 7 as we come together as a community for the University and its students. You can give to a program that has impacted you in some special way.

In March, our men’s and women’s basketball teams will be participating in the AAC conference tournaments before we all tune in on Selection Sunday for NCAA tournament information. Check out our Coogs on the Road web page for travel plans and watch parties.

And don’t forget to visit houstonevents.com/events to find the latest information about upcoming alumni activities and meetings hosted by our constituent associations that you can take part in.

Spring is sprung, so let’s spring into action!  Go Coogs!

True We’ll Ever Be,

Mike Pede (’89)
