Here, We Go…
… into August! July went by so quickly! It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming 7,000 new alumni into the UHAA family. Now, we get to welcome the newest Cougar freshmen to campus. More than 5,000 freshmen will be taking their first steps on campus and attending their first college class. These may be the last days of summer, but here at UH, there will be so many chances for you to join us in showing off your Cougar pride!
In August, we hold many of our 45 separate alumni associations’ annual meetings — dates and times are posted on our calendar at www.houstonalumni.com. What a perfect way to find out how you can be involved with your alma mater. Whether it be planning and organizing a tailgate, a golf tournament, a fishing tournament, or a mentoring program, we all need a way to help keep UH moving forward.
If you haven’t already, August is the last month in our fiscal year to make a gift of any size to the program closest to your heart! You can do that on the website just by clicking Support!
As the father of an incoming freshman (Krista, Class of ’21), I know how we all feel when we drop those kiddos off at the dorms, say goodbye and wish them well as they enter the best time of their lives – their college years. We remember what a life changing experience it was to attend and graduate from UH: the new friends, new interests and new experiences. And we can relive those days, in a way that is meaningful and important, as an engaged alumnus/alumna of the University of Houston.
I hope you and your family have a great end of the summer and we see you on or around campus in the very near future. Football season will be here before you know it – so get ready for a great season.
All the best & Go Coogs!
True we’ll ever be,
